Recently, though, I've gotten very excited about coming up with different bathroom storage ideas. Now, I'm not talking about major bathroom remodeling here. What I'm talking about can be accomplished with a simple visit to Lowe's or Home Depot, along with a free afternoon and a little inspiration from Martha Stewart!

One of the best bathroom storage ideas that I've come across recently involves, not remodeling, but simply rethinking your bathroom design. If you have room, you can put in recessed shelves that can tastefully store and display everything from your makeup to some decorative knick-knacks. And if you want to keep your toiletries out of sight, you can always put in recessed cupboards and cabinets.

If even that sounds like more work than you want to tackle, then start by thinking small. How can you maximize the space that you already have? One idea is to reorganize the space underneath your bathroom sink. Everyone has a cupboard down there, but most people just throw things in there until it's an unorganized mess. Instead, have you considered getting a few small storage boxes and labeling them? If you make them all of one uniform size and shape, then you will also be able to stack them. Put the boxes containing items that you don't use much toward the back, with the boxes containing more commonly used items toward the front for easy access.

A great bathroom storage ideas is to put in a new one that has a wide array of drawers and cupboards. You'll be amazed at the difference - you might even find that this is the only bathroom storage that you need!

Now, for a topic that many bathroom remodelers and redecorators cringe over. What to do with toilet paper? It looks terrible to simply hang it on a hook on the wall like most people do. There are other options! You can still hang it, but hang it on a recessed nook inside of the bathroom vanity. Many newer bathroom vanities make this possible. Alternately, you could put it into a little basket next to the toilet. The goal is to make is accessible for anyone using the toilet, while still keeping it from being too much in view and in sight.

You're probably thinking that a bathroom storage project is going to cost you an arm and a let. But that couldn't be further from the truth! Prices are very reasonable for many bathroom storage ideas. If you're simply buying some mounting hardware to hang decorative bags, or purchasing a few boxes to throw your toiletries and makeup in, then you can probably completely re-do the look of your bathroom for less than 75 dollar price point. Even if you're feeling brave and want to replace your bathroom vanity and medicine cabinet, and maybe actually do a little remodeling, you'll probably only spend around $400 to $50o if you do most of the work yourself.

Summer Home Improvement Projects

When summer time finally rolls around everyone's attention turns to the outdoors. Backyard barbecues, pool parties and trips to the beach start to fill up our calendars for the warm months. While all of the fun summer activities keep us busy, many people also see summer as the perfect time for some home improvements. Keep in mind that just because most of our time revolves around being outside, all of your projects don't have to. Summer is a great time for planning some future projects and doing some interior work.

One project that creeps up in people's mind during the summer is installing a pool. The hot weather can make anyone want to start digging up the backyard so they can finally cool off. Summer however, may not be the best time to actually have that pool installed. You may want to consider spending the summer months planning your pool installation and taking a good look at how you really want to utilize your backyard. If you begin the process at the start of summer, by the time it is finished, you won't really have any time to enjoy it. Another great project for the summer months is repaving and resurfacing. If you have a driveway, the summer is the perfect time to have it repaved. One final home improvement idea that is great to tackle during the summer is a new fence. A new fence can make a huge impact on the overall appearance of you home and yard. Depending on what your needs are (kids, pets, etc) and how much maintenance you want will depend on what kind of fence you have installed. Talk with an expert to decide which material will be best for your yard. This is a project best left to a professional unless you are a seasoned do-it-yourselfer with some experience in fencing. Summer is a great time for this project because the ground is nice and soft so digging all those post holes will be less labor intensive. This is a project that can usually be done in a weekend and will give you plenty of enjoyment and security for many years.
